Why I Haven't Been Blogging Here Lately

Sorry for the month-long absence. February was super-busy, but in a good way. I spent about ten days in Chicago, which is a great city (although brutally cold this time of year). My main reason for being out there was to participate in this event, with Judge Richard Posner and Professor Lior Strahilevitz (my law school classmate -- Lior, not Judge Posner).

The talk went very well. In his writing, Judge Posner can sometimes sound a little chilly, distant, clinical. But in person, he's warm and funny and engaging. The proof is in the podcast (mp3).

While out in Chicago, I also hung out with friends, met up with sources, and did some sightseeing. It was an enjoyable and productive trip, although it did cause me to fall behind on some blog-related work. I love to travel, and being able to work from anywhere is a great advantage of my job, but being away tends to set me back work-wise.

Sadly, when I returned to D.C. from Chicago, the "pre-sick" feeling I had near the tail end of my trip blossomed into a full-blown cold. Illness was a contributing factor in my recent lethargy and depression.

But that wasn't the main reason for my low spirits. To learn the real reason for my gloomy disposition, click here.

The good news is that I've been "un-banned." I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things and catch up on work, now that I no longer have to stress over the loss of Facebook.

But I'm about to hit the road again, leaving tomorrow afternoon for northern California. Over the weekend, I'm going to hang out with my college roommates (and enjoy the nice weather). On Monday, I'll be speaking at Stanford Law School, about how the web is changing the legal profession. The talk is free and open to the public; details here.
